Charlotte CHEUNG - HSBC

“I worked in the Revenue Management Team of Phone Banking Department, which is responsible for evaluating and driving the performance of frontline staff. I mainly supported analysis work by preparing reports and assisted the implementation of initiatives.

During my 6-month internship, I had worked on different analyses under the coaching of managers and colleagues, such as a funnel analysis investigating the root cause of underperformance. What I learnt mainly in the experience was the business story-telling skill. Rather than just doing calculation and finishing the report, I had to understand what relevant insight was offered through the data and how to present it to others. For example, I did not only spot the weakness of the frontline team but also needed to elaborate the reasons behind based on my analysis in order to tell a complete story of underperformance. Besides, I was always encouraged to take my own tasks a step further to think about how they could match with other colleagues’ work at a higher level and contribute to the whole project.

The internship experience was very fruitful as it equipped me with both technical and soft skills of the industry. More importantly, it helped me to shape a clearer career path by identifying my passion as well as strengths and weaknesses. And I am especially grateful to all my colleagues for their guidance and support!”
