Dear CUHK non-final-year undergraduate students,

If you wish to change your Major study to BSc in Global Economics and Finance (GLEF) Program in 2024-25, please note:

Academic requirements: 
- Good grades in at least 8 units from the following courses: DSME1030 or ECON2011, DSME1040 or ECON2021, ECON1101 or MATH1010/ 1510/ 1520, ECON1111.
- Other “equivalent” courses may be considered with discretion, including FINA2310 for non-business students, but DSME1031, DSME1035, ECON1010 will not be accepted as a substitute for DSME1030 or ECON2011.
- Year 1 students are preferred, other applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Minimum requirements for shortlisting: Cumulative GPA 3.3 or above (up to 2023-24 term 1), on selective basis.

Admission requirements: Cumulative GPA 3.5 or above (up to 2023-24 term 2), with good interview performance, on selective basis.

Application period: January 22 (10am, Monday) – February 4 (5pm, Sunday), 2024 (HKT). Late applications and applications with insufficient supporting documents will not be processed.

Application method: Submit online application form + submit supporting documents by email. Early submission is appreciated.

Interview date: March 6, 2024 (Wednesday). Shortlisted applicants must attend this interview. No Zoom interview or any other forms or make-up interview will be arranged.

Interview format: Face-to-face.

Interview notification: At least 2 working days before the interview. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified via phone call or email.

Result notification: Conditional offer will be issued to selected applicants by the end of May 2024 via email. These students are required to submit an updated copy of unofficial transcript after the 2023-24 term 2 result released in early June 2024, and indicate the change of major preference in CUSIS during the timeline set by RES. Late applications in CUSIS will not be accepted.

Online application: Please fill in the details in this link (the link will be available during the application period), an acknowledgement email will be sent to your CUHK email address after a while. Then, please submit the supporting documents WITH the email acknowledgement according to the below instructions. Early submission is appreciated.

Application documents:
Submit BY EMAIL to glef@cuhk.edu.hk AFTER completing the online application. Make sure to enclose the following documents IN ORDER, in one PDF file. Any incomplete or wrong applications will not be processed.
1. Email acknowledgement from the online application (sample here, please check your junk box also)
2. A one-page curriculum vitae in English
3. A one-page application statement with less than 500 words in total in English
4. A copy of your CUHK unofficial transcript in PDF format, up to 23-24 term 2, with highlights of the above-mentioned courses. Please download an ‘unofficial copy’ in CUSIS (instructions here), screen shots will not be accepted.
5. A screen capture of the latest cumulative GPA. If you have attended summer session(s), please also provide the screen capture of that term's GPA.
6. A copy of your public examination certificate(s), and other academic qualification(s), in descending order.
7. Misconduct or demerit record(s): Please state overleaf in detail (if any), in one-page with less than 500 words in total in English, about such record in CUHK/ HKSAR government. Please submit with a copy of any formal letter from the concerned authority, in descending order.
8. If you’re currently year 2 or above: a one-page realistic study plan from 23-24 summer session until graduation. Content should include: course codes, course titles, relevant number of units, course categories.
9. Any other documents you deemed appropriate, in descending order.
10. A copy of your CUHK student ID card

As there may be updates from time to time, no separate announcements would be made. All the details will be announced and posted here and are final.

GLEF reserves the right to modify the criteria without prior notice. Any dispute that may arise, GLEF shall prevail. Please refer to this page for the most updated information.
