Application to Major in Global Economics and Finance (GLEF) Program

Dear CUHK non-final-year undergraduate students,

If you wish to change your Major study to BSc in Global Economics and Finance (GLEF) Program in 2020-21, please note:

Academic requirements: 
- Good grades in at least 8 units from the following courses: DSME1030 or ECON2011, DSME1040 or ECON2021, ECON1101 or MATH1010/ 1510/ 1520, ECON1111.
- Other “equivalent” courses may be considered with discretion, including FINA2310 for non-business students, but DSME1031, DSME1035, ECON1010 will not be accepted as a substitute for DSME1030 or ECON2011.
- Year 1 students are preferred, other applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Remarks for pass/fail courses:
- We will accept the application if you have completed/ will complete the above required courses, no matter it’s on a letter-graded or pass/fail basis. We reserve the right to request your assessment results for verification if needed.
- You should have at least 15 units of letter-graded courses for the 2019-20 academic year (excluding summer session) when submitting application.
- If all of your 2019-20 term 1 courses are on a pass/fail basis, please submit all the assessment results to us. If it’s not stated on blackboard, please request the teachers to confirm your result via email, by stating your scores/grades, maximum scores/grades, mean, SD, class size etc.

Minimum requirements for shortlisting: Cumulative GPA 3.3 or above (up to 2019-20 T1), on selective basis.

Admission requirements: Cumulative GPA 3.5 or above (up to 2019-20 T2), with good face-to-face interview performance, on selective basis.

Application period: February 21 to March 5, 2020 (5:30pm). Late applications and applications with insufficient supporting documents will not be processed. Early submission is appreciated.

Application method: Submit application online (link to be announced) + submit supporting documents by hand.

Interview: April 1, 2020 (Wednesday). Shortlisted applicants must attend this face-to-face interview. No phone interview/ Skype interview or any forms of make-up interview will be arranged.

Interview notification: At least 2 working days before the interview. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.

Result notification: Conditional offer will be issued to selected applicants by the end of May 2020 via email. To complete the application, applicants are required to submit a copy of second term academic report in after the result released in early June 2020, and indicate the change of major preference in CUSIS during the timeline set by RES. Late applications will not be accepted.

Application documents:
Submit supporting documents BY HAND. Make sure to enclose the following documents IN ORDER. Do not staple.
1. Email acknowledgement
2. A one-page curriculum vitae
3. A one-page application statement with less than 500 words in total
4. A copy of your CUHK unofficial transcript, up to 19-20 Term 2, with highlights of the above-mentioned courses. Please download an ‘unofficial copy’ in CUSIS, screen shots will not be accepted.
5. A screen capture of the CGPA, with your name shown on the top
6. A copy of your other academic report(s)
7. A copy of your public examination certificate(s), and other academic qualification(s)
8. Misconduct record: Please state overleaf in detail (if any), in one-page with less than 500 words in total, about your misconduct record in CUHK/ HKSAR government, including but not limited to demerit. Please submit with a copy of any formal letter from the concerned authority.
9. Any other documents you deemed appropriate
10. A copy of your CUHK student ID card
