Rocky SHUM - HSBC

"I was a student apprentice in HSBC for 9 weeks in HSBC. Working in the banking industry is probably one of the most preferred career paths for GLEFers, the business functions are actually so diversified that you rarely are in that particular position to apply what you have learnt in the university. I am working in a team focusing on the merchant partnership in the credit card business. Surely, the knowledge set which I am most familiar with is almost useless here. Do not get me wrong – this experience is however absolutely worthy! My internship experience hones many skills and just to name a few, time management, self-learning and most practically – tasks coordination. To be honest, this might not be a perfect occasion to gear up the knowledge set but definitely is for one’s skill set. Plus, in the ever-changing and stimulating environment of a bank, then you realize how brilliant you can be, as one of the very few GLEFers in CUHK, without the “hard” knowledge which is recited just for the tests or exams."
